When a shunt is used, all jumper connections must be made or broken from the top, not the legs. If the legs are cut the shunt cannot be used to remake the connection if the configuration must be changed. Also if a heavier gauge of wire is used to jumper the connection, the contacts will spread or bend causing a 601 error or drive BOOT failure.
